A minimal notes app for Mac. Drag a sticky out of the menu bar and start writing; every note lives on a quiet wall of paper.
A sticky is ready to type in about 33ms, and 500 notes cost under 50 MB

I kept losing thoughts in the gap between having one and finding somewhere to put it. Velin closes that gap: drag a sticky out of the menu bar or press a shortcut, and the cursor is already waiting. Notes save as you type and stay exactly where you left them, across restarts.
Everything comes together in Folio, a wall of paper instead of the usual sidebar and list. It has folders, tags read straight from your writing, search, and notes that hold code, tables and images. Notes can also come back: at a time you choose, on a date Velin spots in your writing, or quietly after 30 days untouched.
When a note comes back it knocks with a small sticky that never shows what's inside, because the screen might be shared. Cloak goes further and hides chosen stickies from capture tools that respect it. A self-test checks this against the Mac's modern capture method, but it isn't a guarantee: an older recording method can still see them, so there's a shortcut that hides every sticky at once.
It's native Swift with AppKit and SwiftUI on a local SQLite database. There's no account and nothing leaves your Mac. The app is about 3 MB and runs on both Apple Silicon and Intel.
